//rUgBY:State Of Origin New South Wales vs Queensland Game 1 Live streaming on May 28,2014
The 2014 State of Origin series will be the 32nd time the annual best-of-three series between the Queensland and New South Wales rugby league teams have played entirely under 'state of origin' rules (1980 and 1981 were only 1 game series). It will be the second series to be administered by the Australian Rugby League Commission which was created in a major restructure of the sport's administration in Australia.
State Of Origin 2014 New South Wales vs Queensland Match 1
will begin 28th May in Suncorp Stadium @ 8.05 pm Wednesday. State of
Origin Game 1 is just around the corner and both the Queensland Maroons
and NSW Blues have been named for what should be an explosive clash up
at Suncorp Stadium. NSW got to within two points of breaking the Maroons dominance in the last game of last year series, 12-10 losses.
It was the third year in the row the series went to the third game
and NSW had edges, which are closer to a series victory since the QLD
white-wash of 2010, looked well placed at the beginning of this year to
register their first origin series win since 2005 every year.
However, several wounded and some of the players from last years team
struggling to find form have seen a serious shake-up for the NSW Blues
side this year with a lot of new faces in the backline including a new
combination of a half and five-eight.
Canterbury of Trent Hodkinson and Josh Reynolds, which led their side
to eight wins from ten games this season, have been selected as the
halves over the top of out-of-form James Maloney and Mitchell Pearce
roosters.
It is the first taste of origin while Hodkinson Reynolds played in
the finals last year only 15mins. It will be a huge challenge for the
couple charged with producing enough points to Queensland is back-line
that on club level, enjoy playing behind one of the greatest forward
packs in the league often have the advantage over their opposition.
As Maroons concludes the condition of origin series of 2014 with the
same team as they start, their team will have eight players to at least
20 origin games played and qualify for the coveted Dick “Tosser” Turner
medal.
If the Blues reach a similar flat-rate campaign, they have only one; Järryd fullback Hayne.
It is so true that a Gene Miles one-handed offload that winning teams
are easier to pick up than those who must constantly be pulled from the
canvas but there is an undeniable sense of unity in the Maroons camp
that feeds all the way down from the Committee.
Josh Papalii, Chris McQueen and Ben Te’o have not been in the same
form for their clubs in 2014, who served them origin selection in the
first place, but a week spent in the company of their brethren
Queensland will see their performances improve drastically.
Blues coach Laurie Daleys hand was forced with suspensions and
injuries within the established as Greg Bird and Andrew Fifita but when
Mitchell Pearce was entangled in the late night hijinks that pulled the
new South Wales Police anger less than three weeks from game one, Daley
took the position.
Not only was Pearce removed from Committee discussions but roosters
team-mate James Maloney went with him despite a starring role in a
return of the Wests Tigers in round 9 against damage.
Instead, come the irresistible Josh Reynolds and his partner halves
Bulldogs Trent Hodkinson while cocks flyer Daniel Tupou an exciting
add-on to a backline with a lot of potential.
It is in the forward, but where Daley went in search of a containment
crew instead of the next generation of great Blues “bookends”.
There are six players in the NSW forward rotation 30 years or older,
including the spiritual leaders of the team at Paul Gallen and Robbie
Farah. Beau Scott has earned a recall for the first time since game
three, 2012 while Ryan Hoffman maintains the position he held last year,
seven years after his debut in origin.
Although still very accomplished first-graders, it is hard to believe
that Anthony Watmough or Luke Lewis the best days are in front of them
so the question deserves to be asked whether they are the right men to
blow in a new dynasty of Blues or just men for now.
Maroons have a debutant (Aidan Guerra) and Blues two (Hodkinson and
Tupou) but origin experience weighs heavily in Queensland cast to the
tune of 233 games for 124.
Origin games won very rarely use carefully contrived plays perfectly done to expose the opposition defense. Teams: Queensland Maroons team for State of Origin 2014 Game 1:
